CARING FOR YOUR NEW PIERCING

Caring for your new piercing should be the same for everyone across the board. Unless discussed otherwise with your piercer.

1. Wash your hands thoroughly. Never touch your new piercing or jewelry with dirty hands and fingers.
2. Inspect and clean your jewelry with unscented soap and water before rotating. If rotating is necessary.
3. Do not take jewelry out. Body piercings may take many months to completely heal. Changing or removing jewelry should be avoided during the healing process.
4. The use of a sea salt water solution is highly recommended. This will help speed up the healing process.
5. Never use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide because they may damage healthy cells and cause scar tissue.
6. Products that contain petroleum are not recommended as it may collect and promote the growth of bacteria.
7. Avoid hot tubs and public pools until the piercing is completely healed.
8. Avoid alcohol, smoking, chewing tobacco and spicy foods with a new oral piercing.
9. Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds, oils and lotions.
10. Tight fitting clothes may irritate a new piercing.
11. Practicing good hygiene helps during the healing period.

If questions arise during healing, please contact your professional piercer.

CARING FOR YOUR NEW TATTOO

Healing your tattoo could be very different from someone else's. People's skin varies as much as people's personalities. You have to find what works for you.

Being in the business for 14 years, I've seen many variations of healing treatments. My best recommendation thus far has been Aquaphor. A healing ointment made by Eucerin, a leading name for skin care.

The following is a step by step care instruction for your new tattoo:
1. Leave bandage on for 1-4 hours. No need to rebandage. Unless discussed with your artist.
2. Remove bandage, wash with warm water and mild, unscented soap.
3. Showering (not bathing) is highly recommended. Keeping your tattoo clean is vital for the healing process.
4. Apply a thin coat of unscented hand lotion, Aquaphor healing ointment,  or A & D ointment up to 3 times daily until your tattoo is healed.
5. Do expect your tattoo to peel during the first few days of healing. Do not pick at or irritate the skin during this process
6. Swimming, sun tanning, or soaking in water is not recommended for at least 2 weeks.
7. Average healing time is 2-3 weeks.
8. Please contact your particular artist for any questions that may arise during the healing process.
